BumbleBFF Users Donate to Planned Parenthood!
Because we're all for women supporting women, we took over the @Betches account on Thursday, January 26 and raised money for @plannedparenthood while we were at it. For every match made on BumbleBFF on Thursday, we donated 10 cents to Planned Parenthood.
Think that sounds small? On Thursday alone, we had 438,790 matches on BumbleBFF and were able to raise $43,879. And, because we noticed an increase in activity on Bumble, we rounded up the donation to $50,000 to factor those swipes in, as well.
In short, we were overwhelmed by the positive response our users had to this campaign. Activity and downloads increased on Thursday. While we've done engagement based donations in the past - for Save the Children's work in Aleppo, as well as Planned Parenthood - we are always inspired by our outstanding users who are so committed to doing good.
In typical millennial fashion, the idea stemmed from our Bumble team group chat. As we began speaking candidly about women's rights and health, we realized that while we may differ in political and religious opinions, our team is united by a passion to stand up for the necessary, affordable access to women's healthcare. We feel it's our social responsibility to use our platform of incredible users for good in order to facilitate positive change in the world.
This wasn't a political post. We wouldn't be who we are without standing up for and empowering women. Our team is a mixing pot: some of us are republicans, some are democrats, some are independents, and some aren't even from America, but every single one knows how important it is for women to have safe and affordable healthcare. At the end of the day, women's rights are fundamental rights.
