Wish You Were Here! Bumble x Marfa Film Festival

Hitting picturesque Marfa has always been on our bucket list, going for a Bumble pool party was seriously a dream come true. On the last day of the film festival, a hundred festivalgoers – all infinitely cooler than we’ll ever hope to be – nestled around the same pool James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor lounged by while filming Giant in 1956.

Marfa’s ultra laid-back vibe permeated the party: everyone seemed to know each other and each other’s dogs. Guests sipped on Don Julio cocktails, Coco Libre coconut water and Maine Root sodas while cooling off around the pool, mingling and watching Miguel Rangel paint a massive Mexican Bumble blanket.

Filmmakers and photographers wandered into the party, jumping into the pool with jean shorts on, recruiting fellow videographers to catch flips into the pool.

Even as an unusual storm rolled through, filmmakers continued to swim and enjoy a performance by Christian Bland; and only as the week’s final screenings started did guests begin to wander off. The town judge even said it was the best pool he’d ever been to in Marfa. Guilty as charged ;)
